Geoengineering Madness

A new article at RealClimate.org makes some good points about why geoengineering cannot solve our climate problems, and how it could even make things worse. They also point out that humans have changed behaviour many times in history, and there's no reason to suppose it's impossible now. Also, at the beginning, they have a nice roundup of various related articles.

I've previously written about the insanity of geoengineering in general, and specifically why space based solar power is a bad idea. It's strange how many people who had previously been deniers of global warming have now become proponents of magic geoengineering silver bullets to fix the problem. Just a few years ago they were arguing that it was all a conspiracy by "big science" and all the mainstream journals were suppressing the "truth". Now, all of a sudden, they've done a 180. They say they believe the science now, and not only that, science can magically fix all our problems.

I call BS. These people will take any position that lets them off the hook and maintains business as usual. If they thought they could get any traction by blaming global warming on Jewish or black people, I doubt they would hesitate to do so.
